Perplexity's free AI browser with a built-in research assistant and task agent
Free plan · paid from $5/month
AI browsers put an assistant next to every page: it can summarise what you're reading, compare open tabs and, in the newest ones, click through websites to finish a task for you. Some are new browsers built around AI, while others add AI to Chrome, Edge, Brave or Opera. We checked the leading ones and ranked them with the same published rubric.

For developers
People compare AI browsers on this page before they choose. Paste your website after checkout and we'll research, score and publish your listing.
Every browser was checked on 7 October 2026 against its own website, pricing and app-store listings, plus independent 2025–2026 reviews. Each gets five scores out of 10, weighted into an overall score.
Ties are broken by the agent quality score. To be listed, a browser has to build an AI assistant or agent into browsing itself, not just offer it as a separate chatbot app. The list is open: developers can submit an app, and we review it with the same rubric.
Features are scored half by our editors and half by this published checklist, ticked only where the app's own pages or app-store listing confirm it:
Rankings are editorial. Companies can't pay to change a score or a position, and any paid placement is labelled Featured.

In our October 2026 comparison, Perplexity Comet scored highest: it's free on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android and has the most capable built-in agent. Chrome with Gemini and Microsoft Edge with Copilot came next, and suit people who don't want to switch browsers.
OpenAI shut down its Mac-only Atlas browser on 9 August 2026, less than a year after its October 2025 launch, choosing to fold browser features into ChatGPT instead of running a separate browser. Atlas's tools moved into the ChatGPT desktop app, which has a built-in browser, and the ChatGPT extension for Chrome and other browsers.
Perplexity Comet is free on every platform, including its agent, with paid Perplexity plans adding more. Brave Leo and Opera's built-in AI are free without an account, and Chrome and Edge include their assistants free, though their browsing agents need a paid Google or Microsoft plan.
Yes. Comet, Opera Neon, Genspark, Fellou and Sigma have agents that click, type and fill forms on websites, and Chrome (auto browse) and Edge (Browse with Copilot) offer the same to paying US subscribers. They ask before purchases, but still get stuck on complex pages and CAPTCHAs, so check their work.
No. Rankings come from the published rubric and can't be bought. Developers can pay for a Featured spot above the ranking; it's always marked Sponsored and never changes scores or positions.
