What it is

ChatGPT shows product cards with prices and reviews when you ask about something to buy, and its shopping research mode asks clarifying questions before writing a personalised buyer's guide. Since March 2026 it adds side-by-side comparisons and search by photo for all users. OpenAI scaled back in-chat Instant Checkout in March 2026, so you now finish the purchase on the retailer's site or in a retailer's ChatGPT app.
