AI video generators turn a text prompt or a photo into a short clip, and the best now add matching dialogue and sound. Some are general scene generators, some are all-in-one studios that bundle other companies' models, and some make presenter videos with AI avatars. We tested the leading ones and ranked them with the same published rubric.

For developers
People compare AI video tools on this page before they choose. Paste your website after checkout and we'll research, score and publish your listing.
Every tool was checked on 7 October 2026 against its own website, pricing and app-store listings, plus the Artificial Analysis video leaderboard and independent 2026 reviews. Each gets five scores out of 10, weighted into an overall score.
Ties are broken by the video quality score. To be listed, a tool has to generate video with AI from text, images or a script, and be available to anyone on the web or as an app. The list is open: developers can submit an app, and we review it with the same rubric.
Features are scored half by our editors and half by this published checklist, ticked only where the app's own pages or app-store listing confirm it:
Rankings are editorial. Companies can't pay to change a score or a position, and any paid placement is labelled Featured.

In our October 2026 tests, Google Veo (through Flow and the Gemini app) scored highest, with Google's Gemini Omni Flash at the top of the Artificial Analysis leaderboard, native sound and cheap plans. Kling came second as the best value, and Runway leads on editing and creative control.
Google Flow gives everyone 50 free credits a day, enough for a couple of short Veo clips, and Kling gives 66 free credits a day, though its free clips are watermarked. CapCut's free plan also includes some AI video generation.
OpenAI shut down the Sora app and website on 26 April 2026 and the Sora API on 24 September 2026, so it's no longer available. Google Veo and Kling are the closest alternatives.
HeyGen scored highest for avatar videos, with realistic digital twins and video translation on every platform. Synthesia is the better fit for corporate training, with team review tools and LMS export.
No. Rankings come from the published rubric and can't be bought. Developers can pay for a Featured spot above the ranking; it's always marked Sponsored and never changes scores or positions.
