Anthropic, the company behind Claude, has publicly filed to go public. Its S-1 landed with the SEC at 9:00 a.m. New York time (13:00 London) today, and it shows $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, up from $1.16 billion a year earlier (SEC filing).

That is about 14 times more in a single year. For scale: Anthropic made $4.6 billion in all of 2025. It beat that in six months, three times over.

The shares would trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker “ANT”. Share count and price range are still blank.

⚡ What Happened

  • The filing: Anthropic’s S-1 was accepted at 9:00 a.m. ET, with an application to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market (Unite.AI).
  • The banks: 22 underwriters, led by Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan (Unite.AI).
  • The losses: GAAP net loss was $80.7 billion for the first half of 2026, after $42 billion in 2025. Yahoo Finance reports the loss is mostly from accounting charges (Yahoo Finance). On its own adjusted measure, Anthropic reports a $2.7 billion profit for the half.
  • The cash pile: $112.4 billion in cash plus $19.3 billion in short-term investments as of June 30.
  • The timing: Fox Business reports a mid-November debut is still on track, possibly November 19 or 20 (Investing.com). That date isn’t confirmed by the company.

🧠 Why It Matters

This is the first time you get to see a frontier AI lab’s books in full, with audited numbers instead of leaked run-rates.

The filing also reveals some unusual wiring. About 11,900 customers pay Anthropic more than $100,000 a year, and roughly 250 pay over $10 million. A single Class F share carries 50.1% of the voting power, and about 5% of shares go to a public benefit fund (Unite.AI). Buyers get the growth, but not much say.

And the bill is huge. Yahoo Finance reports $9 billion spent on AI infrastructure in six months, more than all of 2025, and that about a fifth of revenue came from two customers (Yahoo Finance).

Disclosure: this post was drafted with help from Claude, Anthropic’s AI model. Every figure is checked against the filing or the outlets linked.

🔜 What To Watch

  • The price range. It sets the valuation, and it’s still blank.
  • Total compute commitments. That figure is also blank in this version.
  • OpenAI’s response. Its biggest rival’s numbers are now public, and its own are not.
  • Wednesday’s earnings from Alphabet and Microsoft, which will be read against these figures.

Details are still emerging as analysts work through the full filing.
