VoyaBear, an AI travel app built by London-based Voyager AI Limited, is now available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The app is free to download on iPhone, iPad and Android. It covers a trip from the first idea to the day you travel: finding places, building the plan, agreeing it with the people you are going with, and getting around once you are there.

Why the founder built it

Founder Jen-Yu Teng developed the app because she was the person in her family who always ended up planning the trip.

“I built VoyaBear because I was tired of doing it all in my head. I come from a big family and I’m always the one responsible for trip planning. Getting everyone what they want takes hours of research.” Jen-Yu Teng, founder of VoyaBear, on the company’s About page

Her answer was to hand the research to software. Teng describes VoyaBear as “an AI that does the research, understands what different people actually want, and builds itineraries that feel personal.”

A profile that learns you

VoyaBear does not sort travellers into fixed types. Each user gets a fully customised profile, and the company says it gets smarter the more you use it.

The app learns the countries you are drawn to and the things you like doing, then uses that to decide what to put in front of you. Two people planning the same city should see two different trips.

Planning for the whole group

The problem Teng set out to solve was a group one, and group planning is where the profile matters most.

Invite friends or family into a trip and VoyaBear takes everyone’s interests into account, not only those of whoever opened the app. The plan is built to give each person something they came for. Trip bookings can be shared with the group, so nobody has to forward confirmation emails.

What else is in the app

According to the company and its App Store and Google Play listings, VoyaBear includes:

  • Reels-first discovery: travel ideas come from social creators. When a reel shows somewhere you want to go, you save the place straight from the video.
  • AI itineraries: day-by-day plans with restaurants, museums and attractions, grouped by location so each day makes sense on the ground.
  • Explore and map: browse attractions and lesser-known spots in a city, with distances shown, and plan on a map.
  • Trip mode: once you arrive, the app switches to guiding you through the day, with directions and offline access.
  • Ticket management: tickets and bookings for the trip are kept in one place.
  • Packing lists: a list for each trip.
  • Cost estimator: a view of what the trip is likely to cost before you commit.
  • Visa requirements: entry rules for where you are going.
  • Bucket list and collection: a record of where you want to go and where you have been, with coins and badges to earn along the way.

The collection is central to the pitch. “Every place you visit gets added to your collection,” Teng writes, “a living map of everywhere you’ve been and everywhere you’re dreaming of going next.”

What it costs

The app is free to download. The App Store listing shows an optional VoyaBear+ subscription at £29.99 a year, and packs of in-app VoyaCoins starting at £0.99.

VoyaBear also runs free tools on its website, including a visa checker, a travel cost calculator, a city comparison tool and a packing list.

What happens next

Releasing on both platforms puts VoyaBear in front of nearly every smartphone owner, in a category where AI trip planners are multiplying quickly. The company is not pretending to be further along than it is.

“We’re still early,” Teng writes, “and honestly that excites me.”
