SEIS vs EIS: how much tax could you get back?

Oct 23, 2026 · Explainer · Startups & funding

Put £10,000 into a startup and SEIS gives 50% income tax relief (£5,000), while EIS gives 30% (£3,000). The yearly limit is £200,000 for SEIS and £1 million for EIS, and both need you to hold the shares for at least three years.
