What it is
Copilot Search blends AI answers with regular Bing results: sentences link inline to their sources and one click shows every link used. Suggested follow-ups let you dig deeper on the same page. It's free, and unlike the Copilot chat app it still answers without a Microsoft account.
Latest: On 31 August 2026 Microsoft confirmed that the Copilot app now requires an account; Copilot Search inside Bing still works without one.
What the AI does
- Answers with inline links to sources
- Full list of every source used, in one click
- Suggested follow-up searches
- Images and videos from publishers in results
Pros and cons
- Free with no account
- Clear inline citations and full source list
- Mixes AI answers with normal web results
- Built into the Bing app and Edge
- Follow-ups are suggested searches rather than a true chat
- No deeper research mode or model choice in search
- Microsoft's AI search is split across Bing and the Copilot app
How it scores
Solid, free and well cited, but more search page than conversation. App ratings are for the Bing app.
