  • 10 apps ranked

  • Researched from official sources

AI app builders turn a plain-English description into a working app, usually with a database, logins and hosting set up for you. Some aim at web apps, some at phone apps, and some at developers who want clean code to take further. We checked the leading ones and ranked them with the same published rubric.

How we rank AI app builders

Every tool was checked on 7 October 2026 against its own website, pricing and app-store listings, plus independent 2025–2026 reviews and comparisons. Each gets five scores out of 10, weighted into an overall score.

Ties are broken by the build quality score. To be listed, a tool has to build a working app, not just a mock-up, from a natural-language prompt and be usable by people who don't write code. The list is open: developers can submit an app, and we review it with the same rubric.

Features are scored half by our editors and half by this published checklist, ticked only where the app's own pages or app-store listing confirm it:

  • Built-in database and user logins
  • One-click publishing with hosting included
  • Free plan that can publish an app
  • Custom domains
  • Export the code or sync it to GitHub
  • Builds iOS or Android apps for the app stores
  • Visual point-and-click editing alongside chat
  • Payments built in (e.g. Stripe)
  • Build from a phone app

Rankings are editorial. Companies can't pay to change a score or a position, and any paid placement is labelled Featured.

Quick answers

What is the best AI app builder?

In our October 2026 comparison, Lovable scored highest: it builds full-stack web apps with a database, logins and hosting from a prompt, and now has iOS and Android apps for building on the go. Replit and Google AI Studio came next.

What is the best free AI app builder?

Google AI Studio's Build mode is free to use within its limits and can deploy apps with Firebase logins and a database. Bolt, Base44 and Replit also have free plans that can publish an app.

Which AI app builder makes iPhone and Android apps?

Rork and Anything build phone apps with Expo (React Native), and Rork Max targets native Swift. Bubble can submit apps to the App Store and Google Play, and Google AI Studio can generate native Android apps. Lovable, Bolt, v0 and Base44 focus on web apps.

What happened to Firebase Studio?

Google closed Firebase Studio to new users on 22 June 2026 and will shut it down on 22 March 2027. Its app-building features moved into Google AI Studio's Build mode, which is listed here instead.

Do companies pay to be on this list?

No. Rankings come from the published rubric and can't be bought. Developers can pay for a Featured spot above the ranking; it's always marked Sponsored and never changes scores or positions.
